VBox Automotive has introduced an innovative testing solution tailored for automotive engineers, aimed at validating Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF) and Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) systems. Leveraging the versatile VBox Touch platform, this solution integrates an SLIF app and an event marker box, streamlining the testing process while ensuring precise and efficient data collection.

Starting July 2024, EU regulations will mandate intelligent speed assist for all new vehicles, with further requirements coming into effect in 2026 under the Euro NCAP Safe Driving Vehicle Assistance Protocol.
Key Features of the VBox Testing Solution:
SLIF Event Marker Box:
This device enables engineers to verify that the vehicle-displayed speeds align with real-world signage. With a simple button press to confirm matching speed data and another to log specific events for post-analysis, it provides actionable insights into SLIF performance.
VBox Touch SLIF App:
The app simplifies data tracking by allowing engineers to document driving conditions across various environments—urban, inter-urban, and highway—and the proportion of day versus night driving. The app's intuitive touchscreen interface includes dedicated buttons for marking transitions between road types and night driving.
Real-Time Compliance Monitoring:
Engineers can monitor the True Positive_Distance (TP’D) metric in real-time, which indicates the percentage of time the vehicle’s display accurately matches real-world speed signs. If TP’D remains within a ±5% tolerance over the final 50km, the total driving distance can be reduced from 400km to 300km, potentially concluding tests early and saving significant time and resources.
Comprehensive Visual Feedback:
For in-depth analysis, the VBox Touch can synchronize with a VBox HD2 unit, linking video footage with data events. The CAN output from the VBox Touch can overlay key data metrics on the footage, providing engineers with detailed visual feedback on SLIF and ISA accuracy.
Integration with Other Equipment:
The VBox Touch CAN output can connect to other dataloggers or relevant equipment within a broader test setup, enhancing the versatility and integration capabilities of the testing solution.
The SLIF and ISA testing solution is now available for order, offering a robust tool for automotive engineers to meet upcoming regulatory requirements and ensure the accuracy and reliability of speed assist systems.
