Ceres and HORIBA MIRA Partner to Accelerate Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies.

Ceres, a developer of electrochemical technologies and HORIBA MIRA, a leading European automotive engineering and testing consultancy, confirmed a long-term agreement to expand the UK’s new fuel cell and hydrogen technology delivery at scale to international markets.

Ceres is a high-growth UK technology business that develops fuel cells used for power generation and electrolysis to create green hydrogen. It supplies advanced fuel cell technologies to global partners including Bosch, Weichai, Doosan and Miura to develop systems and products that address climate change for power generation, transportation, industry, and data centres.

“This partnership has many advantages, significant investment in the UK, the enablement of a state-of-the-art test facility to maintain Ceres’ technology leadership and support for our rapidly growing global partner base. We look forward to establishing a long-term partnership with HORIBA MIRA.” Said Mark Garrett, Chief Operating Officer at Ceres:

HORIBA MIRA’s Testing-as-a-Service draws on a 75-year history of engineering testing, validation, and certification and active participation in the development of international regulatory frameworks for new technologies. This testing service offer is an enabler for HORIBA MIRA’s customers seeking the rapid maturation of emerging carbon-zero technologies.

“We are delighted that Ceres has selected and invested in us as the optimum partner to manage a large-scale testing programme for their fuel cell technology. Not only is Ceres’ clean energy market proposition vital for carbon reduction, but this agreement also recognises how our Testing-as-a-Service offer allows clients to focus on their core business with the confidence that essential testing and validation work is in highly competent hands.”

Said Graeme Stewart, Chief Technical Officer at HORIBA MIRA.

The multi-million-pound agreement will see the development of a new and state-of-the-art 240m2 test facility at HORIBA MIRA’s headquarters, along with additional agreements to develop next-generation testing infrastructure to support Ceres’ core technology and system development, resulting in new and valuable high skill employment opportunities.

In addition to the new testing facilities, the collaboration also includes the design, manufacture and certification of fuel cell testing systems, known as test stands, by the wider HORIBA group, so that Ceres can deploy testing into international markets with locally compliant solutions.

By bringing together high growth technology and trusted testing capability, Ceres will expand its global operations and position itself at the forefront of the international clean energy and the hydrogen economy. At the same time, HORIBA MIRA will cement its position as a leading Testing-as-a-Service provider.
